Autobahn.tech puts AI to work drafting warranty claims and forecasting spare parts demand

Estonian-founded automotive software company Autobahn.tech has begun piloting AI-powered tools that help dealership specialists prepare warranty claims and importers forecast spare parts demand.

According to Autobahn.tech Chief Operating Officer Kadri Põldma, the company’s analysis showed that incomplete information in warranty claims and incorrect fault codes are among the most common and time-consuming problems faced by dealerships. These issues can cause claims to be returned for correction and delay reimbursement.

“Our Warranty Claim AI Assistant helps dealership specialists significantly reduce the time lost to errors,” said Põldma. The assistant suggests relevant fault codes, shows how similar claims were handled in the past and prepares a draft problem description.

The second AI capability is designed to make spare parts ordering more accurate by using historical service data and several forecasting models to identify future demand earlier. The forecast combines current stock, open orders and the history of nearly 100,000 service events.

From one screen, the specialist can see expected demand for the next three months, the risk of a part running out of stock, quantities already in transit and recommended replenishment quantities.

Built on customer data

Both tools use the pilot customer’s own data, show users what each recommendation is based on and leave the final decision with the specialist.

“Employees see detailed information explaining what the AI recommendation is based on and how confident the system is in its assessment. It is a fast and efficient assistant, but the final decision always remains with the specialist,” said Põldma.

If there is too little data or demand is irregular, the system makes this clear instead of displaying a seemingly precise answer that the available information cannot support.

After nearly a year of development, the new AI tools have reached pilot use at selected dealerships. Autobahn.tech’s AI system operates in a controlled-access cloud environment located in the European Union. Development of the AI capabilities was partly supported by the Estonian Business and Innovation Agency (EIS).

Founded in 2012, Autobahn.tech is owned by Estonian entrepreneurs Väino Kaldoja, Kristjan-Thor Vähi and Juss Lemba, German company e&Co. AG and other international shareholders.
